OpenWrt 22.03.0 - First Stable Release - 6 September 2022

The OpenWrt Project has released the first stable version of their 22.03 series, which includes over 3800 commits and has been under development for about a year. This release incorporates Firewall4 by default, which uses nftables instead of iptables to configure the Linux netfilter ruleset. Additionally, it supports over 1580 devices, including more than 15 Wifi 6 (IEEE 802.11ax) capable devices using the MediaTek MT7915 wifi chip. The year 2038 problem has been addressed by transitioning to musl libc’s 64-bit time_t on 32-bit systems, pushing the overflow date forward by billions of years. Sysupgrade from OpenWrt 21.02 to 22.03 is supported in many cases, with a recompile of user space applications linked against musl libc required for some systems.
