A Solid Tiling Window Manager For OSX

This article discusses the author’s journey to find a suitable tiling window manager for OS X, similar to his preferred i3wm-gaps on Linux. He found Christian Bargmann’s blog post that suggests using yabai and skhd together to replicate much of the functionality of i3wm-gaps. The author also uses Hammerspoon for additional automation features, such as window hints. Although there are some limitations with this setup on OS X, such as syncing with its internal state or adjusting brightness for external monitors, the overall experience is close to that of using i3wm-gaps on Linux, and the author recommends others to try these tools out.
